Monaco 2012: 500 years independence

This year, the Principality of Monaco is commemorating its 500 years independency.
On 20 February 1512, on initiative of Lucien Grimaldi, the French king Louis XII is giving the patents with a very suggestive message: The Lord of Monaco can keep its territory « by God and sword ». This is a recognition of the independency of Monaco.
